Grotta di Mitigliano
Only
for few divers… This cavern, sited on the north wall in the bay
of Mitigliano (from the latin “Metellianus”, another roman
lord) is about 80 m long, with a maximum depth of 15 m. The sand
on the bottom is thick, so usually divers do not cause suspension
problems. After the first 20 m, there is a vertical pit, with a
breathable air hall. Going on into the cave, after a narrow
passage, about 20 m long, there are two more halls, and another
bubble of breathable air. Here, due to a natural water source, the
sea water is practically fresh, and very chilly. In this strange
environment live a very rare dark lover fish, similar to the
inhabitants of abyss, called Oligopus ater |
